Fishing Outlook: Flows on the Ausable, Saranac, Chateaugay, and Salmon are down, and water temperatures are up, however, fish are still being caught. Early starts have had cool water temps and resulting in success. Weather outlook for this week looks awesome. Temperatures are looking great with day temps sub 70 degrees (F) for the coming week and temps dropping below 50 at night. Much needed rain is expected with occasional showers beginning Tuesday and spanning for approximately 7 days. Overall the weather looks fantastic and prime trout fishing conditions occurring for the next 10 days. June is the month for big dry flies. Big terrestrial and mayfly patterns are a must have on the river. Skittering big terrestrial and mayfly dries have been producing a large number of fish. Nymphing wise, fishing a variety of attractor nymphs fished in tandem with nymphs more hatch worthy, like birds nests, soft hackle hares ear, caddis pupas, and march brown emergers have been the best option. The expected weather for this coming week (5/21-27) is sunny, with some possible showers slated for Wednesday. We have been picking off risers skittering larger mayfly patterns. Also doing well nymphing variety of attractor nymphs fished in tandem with nymphs more hatch worthy, like birds nests, soft hackle hares ear and caddis pupas. Hot Flies: Dries: Hendrickson Comparadun 12-14, Hendrickson foam post emerged, Elk Hair Caddis Grey, Tan, Green 10-16. Fluttering Foam Caddis 16-12, Ausable Wulff, Ausable Bomber, Haystack, Rusty Spinner, Yellow and Orange Stimulators   Nymphs: Birds Nest, Soft Hackle Hares Ear, Jig Gallop’s Hares, Girdle Bug coffee/black, Olive Napoleon (perdigon), prince nymph, pheasant tail, and Caddis Pupa.     Streamers: Wooly Buggers, Sparkle Minnow CH and JIG, classic Mickey Finns and Great Ghosts, Dhali Lama.

Fishing Outlook: The Ausable, Salmon, Chateaugay, Saranac and surrounding trips are all fishing well. Flows and temps are perfect for the time of year. Hatches are in full swing for Hendricksons, Caddis and Stoneflies. For the best hatch action mornings and evenings are prime times to be on the river.
