Fishing Outlook: The Ausable, Salmon, Chateaugay, Saranac and surrounding trips are all fishing well. Flows and temps are perfect for the time of year. Hatches are in full swing, best action is in the earlier parts of the morning and later in the evenings. Hendricksons are beginning to slow down, while March Browns are quickly picking up. Weather outlook for this week Weather outlook for this week is going to be hot, with temperatures averaging in the high 80s. The heat will likely put the Ausable near 70 degree water temps. If so head up river or fish smaller creeks. Evening temperatures will be cool so hitting the river in the morning will be best. We have been picking off risers skittering larger mayfly patterns. Also doing well nymphing variety of attractor nymphs fished in tandem with nymphs more hatch worthy, like birds nests, soft hackle hares ear and caddis pupas. For the most up-to-date reports give us a call here at the Fly Shop at 518-946-2117.
Note: Black fly season has hit us here in the Adirondacks, hatches are spread sporadically across the river. Good idea to pack a good face covering and have bug spray ready to go. If you are in need of either a face covering or bug spray, both can be purchased at The Anglers Outpost.
Up Coming Events: The Anglers Outpost is open 9-5 for all your conventional tackle needs. NYS Fishing Licenses can be purchased at the Outpost. We also have a huge selection of warmwater and still water flies. A proper opening and announcement is coming soon. Live bait tank is getting installed this week. All the information will be coming out shortly. Very excited to unveil the extension of our business and cater to a wider variety of anglers of all disciplines.
Guiding: We have plenty of guiding dates open throughout the month of June. Sunday June 4th is wide open for trips to be scheduled. Our guiding service specializes in creating a fishing experience tailored for you. We have a variety of options to include, wading trips for trout, float trips for bass, boat trips on Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and backcountry small stream brook trout fishing. June is our favorite month to hit the water. Big Mayflies, Terrestrials, and Stoneflies hatch during the month, and big dry flies are a must have along the Ausable. Bass have completed their spawning and are hungry, striking flies with agression. Our Lake Placid Boat guide (Zack Horrocks) has been crushing it on Lake Placid. If you are interested in booking a trip, and/or looking for more information on guiding give a call here at the shop (518)-946-2117, and we are more than happy to fill in the blanks and get you dialed for you Adirondack Fishing Adventure.
