Fishing Outlook: Much needed rain has hit the Adirondacks brining flows on the Ausable and surrounding rivers up, with a rough increase of 100 CFS. Conditions are prime for trout fishing. The weather outlook appears promising. Sunny skies are expected for Sunday (6/11) with a high of 70, then returning to the trend of cool, cloudy and rainy days over the course of next week. June is the month for big flies here in the Adirondacks. Skittering big terrestrial and mayfly dries have been producing a large number of fish. Nymphing wise, fishing a variety of attractor dry and nymph attractors fished in tandem with nymphs more hatch worthy, like birds nests, soft hackle hares ear, caddis pupas, and march brown emergers have been the best option. For the most up-to-date reports give us a call here at the Fly Shop at 518-946-2117.

Note: Black fly season has hit us here in the Adirondacks, hatches are spread sporadically across the river. Good idea to pack a good face covering and have bug spray ready to go. If you are in need of either a face covering or bug spray, both can be purchased at The Anglers Outpost.
