Fishing Outlook: We do not have much to report as it’s still early season in the ADK. We are experiencing high water – no higher than a normal winter flush with the river cresting around 10000 cfs. Much of the ice on the upper 3/4 of the river is pushed out, which means as we move intro nicer weather and warming river there will be windows for early season fishing.
Early season Can be quite good but the windows are short and you have to be pretty tuned in – which we are. We do encourage guiding early season because of this. With that said – Word of advice: March and April are tough fishing on the West Branch Ausable. We high encourage anglers to book there destination fishing vacation from May 1st onward. The last few years we have had eager groups fishing in April for days in a row and it’s simply to cold and being flushed with mountain runoff that the bite is minimal. Avoid the disappointment – come May!
Warm Water: Not Yet!
