This legendary and very remote section of the Ausable River harbors the largest and wildest fish in our entire watershed. 

It also contains the river’s most renown pools made famous in Ray Bergman’s 1952 classic book, TROUT. 

Due to its limited access (nearly a two mile walk!), this area is very lightly fished. The HUNGRY TROUT leases the 800 acres of private land that borders this section and offers our guests guided access directly to the shoreline of this posted and gated stretch of wonderfully remote water.

What's Included?

  • Introductions to the equipment, river conditions, hatches and techniques to advance your ability as an angler
  • Your very own dedicated and experienced Adirondack fly fishing guide to oversee your day
  • Training, tips and tactics from your guide throughout the day to help increase your experience and skill level
  • Flies are not included in your trip, our guides are happy to pre-select a small assortment for you based on the current fishing conditions. In the event you need more during the day, the guides are well prepared with extras
  • Gear rental is available on-site
  • We can run trips at a time to suit you. However we prefer that you ask the guides for the best fishing times. If you can’t easily find the date you’re after please contact us and we will be happy to help.
